Hyperbaric Chamber Unit
This technology activates the cells and thus accelerates the healing process, through hyper-oxygenation of all tissues (muscles, bones and tendons).
At Olympia we provide our patients with the latest technology and innovative treatments to improve their recovery. We have a state-of-the-art single-seat oxybaric hyperbaric chamber that achieves hyperoxygenation by bringing oxygen to all our tissues, which improves circulation and allows injuries to heal more quickly.
A hyperbaric chamber is a medical device used to deliver hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which consists of breathing pure oxygen at an elevated pressure inside a closed chamber. This therapy has been used to treat a wide range of medical conditions.
During a hyperbaric oxygen therapy session, the patient is placed inside the chamber and the pressure inside is gradually increased, to up to three times normal atmospheric pressure.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is commonly used to treat soft-tissue injuries, burns, chronic wounds, infections and carbon monoxide poisoning. It has also been used to treat neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and stroke.
This therapy works by increasing the amount of oxygen available to the body’s tissues and reducing inflammation. The elevated pressure inside the chamber can also help increase blood flow and accelerate healing.
Technology
A single-seat hyperbaric chamber is an airtight vessel that can withstand pressures greater than atmospheric pressure (up to 3 ATA), in which oxygen therapy treatments can be performed on a patient.
Thanks to its spaciousness, the fully transparent methacrylate cylinder, the screen entertainment system, the attention and monitoring of the camera operators and all the safety measures in place, patients receive the most effective treatment and benefit from an extraordinarily pleasant experience without any feeling of claustrophobia.
Featured treatments
This technology activates the stem cells and thus accelerates the healing process, through hyper-oxygenation of all tissues (muscles, bones and tendons). It stimulates the creation of new blood capillaries, regulates collagen formation and boosts the immune system as a whole. It is suitable for elite athletes to speed up the recovery process, and for patients with various ailments.
Athletes:
- Sports and trauma injuries
- Improve recovery following intense exercise
- Pre-competition sports performance training programmes
- Readaptation for professional athletes
Patients with ailments:
- Wounds that do not heal readily
- Crush injury, compartment syndrome and other acute traumatic ischaemias
- Necrotising soft-tissue infections
- Radiation injuries
- THERMAL BURNS
- Osteomyelitis (refractory)
- Decompression sickness
- Wound and ulcer treatment
- Complex post-surgical patients
- Arterial diseases
- Diabetic foot
- Arterial, venous or mixed vascular ulcers
- Skin lesions due to inflammation of the blood vessels or infections in slow-healing wounds
- Ischemia reperfusion syndrome
How should I attend the hyperbaric chamber sessions?
The sessions in the hyperbaric chamber are carried out with pure medical oxygen at high pressures, which means that safety measures must be considerably increased:
- Clothing must be 100% cotton.
- No body products of any kind, such as oils, creams, lotions or hairspray should be used on the day.
- No jewellery or watches of any kind should be worn.
- Ideally, it is best to enter the hyperbaric chamber after having a normal shower
What does it feel like during the sessions in the hyperbaric chamber?
The hyperbaric chamber is filled with medical oxygen. Oxygen is a gas that is normally relaxing for the patient, so it is normal to fall asleep during the process. You can change position during the treatment and move around as much as you need to. As a result of the increased pressure, the temperature rises by 2 to 3 degrees, creating a warm atmosphere. The hyperbaric chamber has a television, for the patient to watch their favourite series or films.
