Featured Services

Obstetrics Consultation

This involves the regular assessment of maternal and foetal wellbeing. It includes blood pressure testing and measuring the weight of the pregnant woman, anamnesis with the doctor and high-resolution foetal ultrasound. The service also involves getting laboratory test results and planning subsequent appointments.

High-resolution ultrasound

This refers to ultrasound scans of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester. A high-resolution ultrasound is a detailed examination of the foetal anatomy using ultrasound to create accurate images of the foetus and placenta. It provides information on the baby’s development, identifies any malformations and enables more accurate monitoring of the pregnancy.

4D ultrasound

In this advanced imaging technique, the scanner uses conventional ultrasound images in the three spatial planes to create a three-dimensional reconstruction of the foetal anatomy in real time. As well as giving you a precious memory of your baby before birth, it also provides an exciting way for both parents to connect with the baby. We also sometimes use this technology to look into certain foetal pathologies in more detail. You will be able to take the images and videos of the live scan with you on a device.

Screening for Pre-eclampsia

Pre-eclampsia is a serious complication caused by pregnancy affecting about 3% of pregnancies worldwide, with significant maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality mainly due to the need for preterm termination of pregnancy and its association with foetal growth defects. We now have available sensitive programmes for the identification of patients at increased risk of pre-eclampsia and effective preventive treatment to improve the prognosis of pregnant women suffering from this condition.

Invasive prenatal diagnostic tests

The most common tests are amniocentesis, which involves the removal of amniotic fluid, and chorionic villus sampling, which tests a sample of placental cells. These tests are usually performed when there are risk factors present, when non-invasive tests yield abnormal results, or when there is a family history of genetic disease.

External cephalic version

This is a safe, effective technique in which the obstetrician uses manual manoeuvres to change a breech position into a headfirst presentation and optimise conditions for vaginal delivery. This procedure is performed in breech or transverse breech pregnancies at term (approximately 4% of pregnancies).

Cervical cerclage

This procedure involves suturing the cervix to prevent premature dilatation of the uterus and prevent miscarriage or premature delivery. It is performed in high-risk pregnancies, in women with a history of cervical insufficiency or recurrent gestational loss.
