Specialist in Physical Education and Sports Medicine, Graduate and Doctor in Medicine, Autonomous University of Madrid, with more than 30 years’ experience in different sports disciplines (football, basketball, hockey, cycling, triathlon, athletics, etc.), with athletes of different levels (elite to amateur) and ages.
His professional career has spanned different areas related to sport. He began in the Functional Assessment and Research Unit of the School of Medicine of Physical Education and Sport, Complutense University of Madrid (1991-1997), which partially coincided with his time at the Medical Center of the Higher Sports Council in Madrid (1992-2001); he then moved on to the medical services of Real Madrid CF (2001-2013), the Royal Spanish Field Hockey Federation (2000-2001), and more recently has worked as a medical consultant for the ACB (2020-2022).
In 2006 he began his hospital work for the Quirónsalud group, acting as co-head of the Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine Services of the Quirónsalud Madrid and Ruber Juan Bravo University Hospitals.
His particular interest and dedication to Sports Cardiology since 1994, has led him to be co-author of several of the international reference clinical guidelines in this Cardiology subspeciality; member of the Core Group of Sports Cardiology of the European Society of Cardiology (2014-2020) and coordinator of the group of Sports Cardiology of the Spanish Society of Cardiology (2014-2018).
He is the author of numerous scientific articles, book chapters and is a regular speaker at national and international congresses in his speciality.
He has always combined his healthcare activity with teaching work (associate professor at the School of Medicine of Physical Education and Sport, Complutense University of Madrid (1992-2001) and associate professor, Faculty of Medicine, European University of Madrid (since 2012)) and has tried to apply his knowledge and experience in Sports Medicine for the benefit of all types of patients.
