Olympia has innovative programmes to prevent the onset of pathologies that hinder good rest, caring for health and wellness with optimal, restful sleep. Its mission is to improve rest and performance for professional and amateur athletes, executives at large companies, and, in general, anybody wishing to improve their daytime mental and physical performance.

The pioneering Rest Management Unit for preventing and treating sleep disorders is led by doctors Eduard Estivill, Carla Estivill and Francisco Segarra, prestigious experts in Sleep Medicine, Neurophysiology and Chronobiology (biological rhythms).

The Unit strives to prevent sleep disorders, and to guide, diagnose and treat disorders such as insomnia, excessive sleepiness, narcolepsy, snoring, apnoeas, restless legs syndrome, infantile insomnia, sleepwalking, night terrors and sexsomnia. It can also offer jet lag management programmes for transatlantic travellers.

The Unit counts on the latest medical and technological advances, including polysomnography devices (complete nocturnal sleep studies) at the patient’s home, and chronobiological sensors (similar to watches, which the patient wears for 7 days).

The Rest Management Unit has both diagnostic tools for detailed clinical study of the athlete’s habits (allowing it to determine chronotype –early morning or later in the day– and objectively examine circadian rhythms), along with procedures for appropriate treatment. This optimises the athlete’s performance for better results. It is what the unit’s experts call invisible training.

The service not only focuses on athletes, but also on any other type of patient, such as children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens. The Unit’s work is bolstered thanks to interaction with a range of other units, such as Nutrition, Dermatology, Endocrinology (for melatonin secretion analysis), Cardiology (for pathology studies using polysomnography, to rule out the cardiovascular consequences of apnoeas), Neurology (absence of neurological pathologies), Endocrinology (microbiota rhythms, intermittent fasting), ENT (to detect nasal breathing difficulties) and Pneumology (snoring).
