‘Current and Future Heart Health’ Programme
Neurological, Cardiological and Vascular Prevention Unit
The programme offers an assessment of cardiovascular health and the risk of developing or relapsing into diseases such as heart attack, stroke or arterial circulation problems.
It is open to everybody, regardless of whether they suffer from or are prone to heart or vascular disease due to risk factors or genetic background.
Following assessment by a cardiologist specialising in cardiovascular prevention and cardiac rehabilitation, a series of guidelines are drawn up to avoid the risk of relapse or developing the disease, offering a personalised prevention, treatment and/or follow-up plan.
Whether you require lifestyle changes (e.g. weight loss, quitting smoking, stress management, sleep disturbances, etc.) or have a condition requiring treatment (hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, etc.), we will be on hand to offer advice, accompanying you and checking on you throughout the process.
As part of our commitment to improving cardiovascular health in families, we recommend that anyone with a family history of heart disease, especially in close relatives and at an early age, should seek a consultation. This also applies whenever there are risk factors for cardiovascular disease (smoking, hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, lack of physical exercise, stress, etc.), signs of incipient vascular disease (such as erectile dysfunction in men), or, for women, complications during pregnancy (repeated miscarriages, preterm delivery, hypertension or gestational diabetes), early menopause (before the age of 40), or gynaecological problems such as polycystic ovary syndrome or breast cancer that has required chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment.
